Frankfurter Markthalle

On 29 May 2013, LS travel retail Germany opened the “Frankfurter Markthalle”. It will be the new gastronomic highlight of Frankfurt am Main’s central railway station. With this opening, LS travel retail realised one of the biggest construction projects implemented by a commercial tenant at a German railway station to date. LS Managing Directors Astrid Heck and Thomas Wiesel: “Travellers, commuters and visitors will now be greeted on 1,000 square metres by a diverse mix of well-known food retail chain outlets such as Kamps and Burger King as well as internationally successful concepts such as my Indigo, Rustichelli & Mangione and Brioche Dorée.”

Markthalle visitors can take their pick from the wide range of food and beverages offered by the various brand concept outlets: from Asian dishes and sushi to salads, soups or savoury delights from a butcher’s stall, fresh fish and tasty pizza. Crispy baked goods and coffee specialities are, of course, also available, as well as freshly squeezed fruit juices, crunchy fresh fruit, and a variety of snacks, ice cream or draught beer.

350,000 travellers, visitors and commuters

With around 350,000 travellers, visitors and commuters every day, Frankfurt am Main Central Station is one of Germany’s busiest railway stations, and the most important railway terminal in the country. LS CEO Astrid Heck emphasises: “Our target groups include travellers as well as railway employees and the many people working nearby.” The pleasant atmosphere and the variety of food on offer make the Frankfurter Markthalle the perfect place to spend your lunch break. There is also an inviting outdoor terrace where meals can be consumed in fine weather.

Groceries

The wide range of food on offer inside the generously-proportioned, open and contemporary Frankfurter Markthalle conversion not only ensures that anyone wanting to sit down will find exactly the kind of dishes they are looking for but also the right ambience. And anyone looking for ‘food to go’ is, of course, also catered for.

We also have a wide range of tasty products on offer for anyone looking to buy food on the way home after work, from fresh meat, sausages, fish and vegetables to freshly baked bread,” explain the LS travel retail Managing Directors.

For any occasion

There are various seating options, depending on the “consumption situation”: Customers who prefer to eat alone or are in a hurry can perch on a bar stool at one of the numerous counters and bar tables. Ordinary tables seating two, four or six are provided for families, couples and bigger groups; these may also be pushed together to accommodate large parties. However, there is also the option of relaxing in comfortable armchairs. The Markthalle provides a very special service for two customer groups: the “Kinderecke” kiddie’s corner features some toys for its youngest visitors, as well as plenty of space to climb and run around in. And business travellers will find sockets in the “Businessecke” business corner, and are also welcome to use the Wi-Fi system available throughout the Markthalle, as are all other visitors.
