Hachette Livre, the 3rd largest trade and educational publishing group in the world, is proud to announce it has acquired an interest in “Educapital”, the first European fund dedicated to education and training, whose creation was announced today.

Educapital’s mission is to identify and support startups that develop innovative products in all segments of education and learning, including the primary, secondary and higher education sectors as well as in supplemental areas.

The main educational imprints within the group in France (Hachette Education, Hatier, Didier and Foucher, as well as Dunod) will bring their experience and knowledge in these markets to the project. Hachette Livre is the only educational publishing group in Educapital.

Arnaud NOURRY, Chairman and CEO of the Hachette Livre group, explains : “this investment brings together Hachette Livre and the digital “pure-players” that are instrumental in innovation ; therefore it enhances Hachette Livre’s ability to explore opportunities in digital teaching and learning, in both the education and supplemental markets. This move highlights the strategy to consolidate our position as market leader and to be at the vanguard of educational services and contents.
