Founded in 2000, Bragelonne has become the leading independent publisher of genre fiction in less than a decade. Today, Bragelonne starts a new chapter of its history as it joins Hachette Livre, the leading French publishing group. The partnership initiated since 2019 between Hachette Livre and Bragelonne now finds its logical conclusion.

In France, Bragelonne has been a pioneer in bringing readers new literary genres, innovative content and formats. Comprised of only one label when it was founded, the group now includes seven labels in a wide array of genres including genre fiction, comics and young adult. Since 2019, the Bragelonne group has also developed a new business in board games via its subsidiary Bragelonne Games.

With a catalog of 4,000 titles, Bragelonne publishes more than 600 authors and is home to the biggest names in fantasy, fairy tales and science fiction in a wide variety of genres. Bragelonne is the publisher in France of the world-renowned Polish series The Witcher by Andrzej Sapkowski, which is also published by Hachette Livre in English-speaking countries. The Bragelonne group is home to acclaimed international and French authors such as Robert Jordan (The Wheel of Time), Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Arthur C. Clarke, David Gemmell, Connie Willis, Anthony Ryan, Shelley Parker-Chan or Pierre Pevel (author of many best-selling titles, amongst which Haut-Royaume and Paris des Merveilles). Bragelonne is also home to acclaimed and bestselling literary authors such as Jojo Moyes, Nadia Hashimi, Cecelia Ahern, Dinah Jefferies, Marjan Kamali and Francis Scott Fitzgerald. Bragelonne has also developed a delightful range of titles for children and young adult, including titles from authors Margaret Rogerson, Kara Thomas, Paul Beorn and Silène Edgar, the latter two having co-written the seminal children’s novel 14-14. Lastly, the illustrated segments are shining examples of the success of Bragelonne, with the publication of many award-winning titles in France and internationally, such as the works of Junji Ito, the works of HP Lovecraft illustrated by François Baranger, Locke & Key or Invisible Kingdom.

Thanks to this acquisition, Hachette Livre welcomes a leading French publishing house that focuses on genre fiction, which strengthens its position in very dynamic editorial segments. Within Hachette Livre, Bragelonne and its labels, driven by passionate and talented teams, will continue to develop itself with its own identity, while simultaneously benefiting from the sales and distribution power and international reach of Hachette Livre.

Within Hachette Livre, the Bragelonne group will join the Illustrated division led by Isabelle Magnac.
