The 2013 Innovation Awards, aimed at promoting innovative projects by the Group’s entities, were presented on 2 December at the Folies Bergère.

Following an introductory speech by chief information Officer Emmanuel Gaudin, Marie Geneste, head of Lagardère Innovation, presented Lagardère Innovation’s missions and several recent initiatives, including a digital economy partnership with Idinvest Partners*. After notable addresses by Marc Simoncini – founder of Meetic and Jaïna Capital – and Corentin Raux – co-founder of Pretty Simple (which publishes the game Criminal Case) -, Lagardère SCA’s co-managing partner Dominique D’Hinnin, Patrick Valroff, member of the Supervisory Board of Lagardère SCA, and Emmanuel Gaudin presented the 2013 awards.

A total of three projects were selected for awards from among the 21 submitted from 14 Group entities in 12 different countries. Such projects reflect the creativity, abundant talent, collaborative capacity and strength of execution of the Group’s business lines.

Lagardère Innovation’s missions consist in helping the Group’s business lines accelerate the development of their innovative projects, capture trends and explore new ideas.

Winners of the 2013 Innovation Awards

GRAND JURY AWARD

  • Media center (Sportfive Germany – Lagardère Unlimited)
    Multi-channel platform for sport content that provides a complete technical structure for rights-holders to operate and monetize their own digital media channels.

TWO TOP AWARDS

  • Eco labelling of books (Hachette Livre – Lagardère Publishing)
    Hachette Livre France developed a unique ecological labelling system of books which enables editors to communicate on their ecological engagements and for readers to know the ecological impact of the book.
  • Gulli second screen (Lagardère Thématiques, TV Activities – Lagardère Active)
    Advertising and editorial second screen offer: the synchronization of TV ads or shows with a mobile or a tablet enables the access to additional content for the viewer.

*The Group has announced an €11 million investment in a new venture capital fund launched by Idinvest Partners. The fund intends to invest primarily in the digital economy in Europe.
