TiJi Russia was named best Children’s channel and
Mezzo Live HD received the special “Tricolor TV” best channel award

The Russian versions of TiJi and Mezzo Live HD have been named recipients of prestigious awards by the cable, satellite and Internet television industry in Russia.

The 2012 Golden Ray awards ceremony was held on Thursday 25 October in Izvestiya Hall in the centre of Moscow. Seventy cable, satellite and Internet channels were nominated for 95 awards in 13 categories for the fourth annual edition of this event organized by the National Association of TV and Radio Broadcasters of Russia (NAT) and Eutelsat S.A.

Based on such criteria as originality of concept, programming diversity, audience share, percentage of original content and distribution mode, the professional jury selected TiJi Russia, the Russian version of TiJi, for the 2012 best children’s channel award.

“We are extremely pleased that TiJi Russia was honoured for the second time this year. After receiving the best children’s channel award at the 14th-annual CSTB 2012 International Expo and Forum – the major annual television and telecommunications industry event for Russia and the Community of Independent States (CIS) -, we are very proud that the professional members of the Golden Ray jury also saw fit to honour our children’s channel, particularly since it was in direct competition with the major international networks and a number of long-established Russian channels. TiJi Russia, which was launched three years ago by Lagardère Television International in partnership with the Russian company Universal Distribution, has succeeded in a very short time in attracting a loyal audience of both children and parents, who trust it implicitly. Today, with over 5 million households receiving TiJi in Russia and neighbouring countries, we consider it a resounding success,” comments Benoit Roque, Lagardère Active’s commercial director for television channels, France and international, who adds: “During the 2012-2013 season, TiJi Russia will continue to provide entertainment for young children and their families featuring Europe’s best selection of edutainment programmes and early-learning products.”

Mezzo Live HD, for its part, received the Best Channel Special Award from Tricolor TV, one of the world’s largest and most rapidly growing satellite platforms.

“Here again, this recognition shows that our focus on excellence and quality in the day-to-day management of our channels was the right approach. We are extremely proud that, after only three years of broadcasting, Mezzo Live HD is so highly esteemed in a country that places so much value on culture in general, and classical music in particular,” Roque explains.
