Lagardère SCA reports significant increase in First-Quarter sales 1998 : +12.1%

LAGARDERE SCA’s consolidated sales for the first quarter of 1998 amounted to FF 15,168 million, compared with FF 13,526 million for the corresponding period of 1997, an increase of 12.1%. Excluding changes in Group structure and Foreign Exchange rates, the increase amounts to 7.4%.

- High Technology sector decreased slightly thus consolidating the strong growth (+30%) recorded inthe first quarter of 1997 compared to the same period in 1996.
- Automobile and Transit Systems sector, strong increase due to the great commercial success of the new Renault Espace.
- Communication/Media sector, significant increase in the sales for each of its divisions (Book Publishing, Print Media, Distribution Services, Broadcasting, Film and Display, and Multimedia Grolier).
