Mondial Paris Cadet – Trophée Lagardère
Corporate & other activities
Paris, May 27, 2005
On Friday 27 May 2005 at 9:30 a.m., Hugues Cavallin, President of the Paris Tennis League, and Arnaud Lagardère, General Partner and Manager of Lagardère SCA, introduced the 2005 Mondial Paris Cadet – Trophée Lagardère tournament, a competition that will take place from 24 June to 2 July at the Racing Club de France, Croix Catelan, in the Bois de Boulogne. Mr. Lagardère announced his company’s decision to become the main partner of this prestigious international tournament – reserved for male and female players under 16 – for a period of three years.
This year’s event, the eighth Mondial Paris Cadet – Trophée Lagardère competition, will draw young people from all over the world; 71 nations have been represented since 1998. These champions of tomorrow are ready to take up the torch from a number of former (and now famous) participants, including Richard Gasquet, Gaël Monfils, Juan Monaco, Jose Acasuso and Youlia Fedossova.
The Lagardère group is already in partnership with the French Tennis Federation through its sponsorship of the Internationaux de France event and of Paris Jean-Bouin, a major French tennis club. The company initiated the Trophée Jean Luc Lagardère event, which each year features international tennis legends, and is now boosting its tennis strategy by supporting the Paris League for this competition. Both parties would like to see the tournament become a top-drawer event in its category.
Helping young tennis hopefuls (including Gasquet, Mathieu and Monfils, among others) and signing on as a partner of the Mondial Paris Cadet – Trophée Lagardère tournament is part of a long-term strategy for Lagardère, which is banking on the sport’s future.
